Losing a loved one can be incredibly difficult at any age, but it can be especially difficult for children. For those looking for a way to help a child process grief after death, Home Health & Hospice Care in Merrimack offers the Good Grief program.
A part of our child bereavement services, Good Grief offers caring support to bereaved elementary and middle school children, ages 4-13. Children process their loss using child-focused activities such as writing, art, puppet play and other age-appropriate activities. They also connect with other bereaved children and learn they are not alone in their sadness. Groups are facilitated by trained volunteers; children are grouped according to age. Parents connect with staff in their own support group to learn how to best meet the needs of their grieving children. Sessions meet bi-weekly from September to June. Registration is required. Our child bereavement services are available to individuals in Manchester, Nashua, Derry, Salem, Merrimack and throughout southern New Hampshire. All services are free of charge.
