HHHC Receives 5-Star Rating for Patient Satisfaction

Posted in General

Home Health & Hospice Care is once again proud to report a 5-Star rating from CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) in Patient Satisfaction!

HHCAHPS (Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers & Systems) star ratings help you quickly and easily assess the patient experience of care information provided on Home Health Compare. You can use these ratings to more easily compare home health agencies using a 5-star scale, with more stars indicating better quality care.

To calculate the star ratings, HHCAHPS Survey information from one home health agency is compared to that from others. A 5-Star rating indicates better quality care than fewer stars.

Why is this important?

Home health agencies differ in the quality of care and services they provide to patients. HHCAHPS star ratings provide a snapshot of the 4 measures of patient experience of care on Home Health Compare. In addition, the HHCAHPS summary star rating combines all 4 HHCAHPS star ratings into a single, comprehensive metric.

Use the star rating together with other information. If a home health agency doesn’t have an HHCAHPS summary star rating, it means that the home health agency did not have enough surveys to have star ratings calculated in a meaningful way. It doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with the home health agency.

In addition to the patient survey results, the HHCAHPS star ratings summarize patient experience, which is one aspect of home health agency quality.
